Graphic Novel Book Club and Workshop at Crystal Bridges


This will be an informative and fun series.  Crystal Bridges librarian Jason Dean and library director Catherine Peterson will lead the first session with information below and offer a peak at a few rare graphic novels.  At the second session we will discuss a graphic novel by Sean Fitzgibbon.  Following in October, will be a workshop, led by Sean, and participants will make their own graphic novels.

Part One of Two (Teens and Adults) (Second August sessions are optional)
Join the Library’s Graphic Novel Book Club. Part One features an introduction to graphic novels and the history and current trends of graphic artists.  In this introduction, the Library will display rare illustrations including the 1930 Lakeside Press print of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, illustrated by Rockwell Kent, and a print by the popular graphic artist Sandow Birk.
Tickets include the two parts: $10 for non-Members  | 10% discount for members.

Part Two of the Graphic Novel Book Club will feature a reading group for adults on August 22 from 7 to 8 p.m., and a teen reading group on August 29 from 7 to 8 p.m.  The reading groups will focus on artist Sean Fitzgibbon's recently published graphic novel DomestiCATed: Paths Once Crossed.  You can purchase the book club meeting July 25.
