Augmenters & Interlopers Exhibition At sUgAR

There are still two weeks to check out the group exhibition Augmenters & Interlopers at the sUgAR Gallery. The exhibit contains a diverse array of works. The selection encompasses a variety of media including paintings, video art, sculpture, photography, ceramics and design. It was great seeing everyone at the reception on Friday, May 6.

June Exhibit At Revolver Gallery

Hope you all can join us with our friends at the Fayetteville Underground. I'll be exhibiting work in the Revolver Gallery. William M. Flanagan will be showing work in the Vault Gallery. Be sure to also check out the Hive Gallery and the E Street Gallery to see works by Sharon Killian and Hank Kaminsky.

The exhibit will run thru June and the reception will be Thursday, June 2, from 5-8pm. The regular gallery hours are Wed-Fri 12pm-7pm & Sat 10am-5pm. The Fayetteville Underground is located at East Square Plaza / One East Center Street / Fayetteville, AR. Thanks and we hope to see you there!

Graphic Novel Book Signing

Join us Saturday, May 7, 2-4pm at Hastings Books in Fayetteville, AR. I'll be signing advanced copies of my book DomestiCATed: Paths Once Crossed. I actually finished this particular book about seven years ago but it has finally found its way to print and will be available in late May or early June. This book features three dark short stories that follow a black cat as it ventures into the nefarious underbelly of human existence. These stories have a broad appeal to fans of noir, mystery and intrigue. If you enjoy Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, or old EC titles such as Tales From the Crypt you'll love DomestiCATed: Paths Once Crossed. Hope to see you there!

2012 Schedule of Events

The 2012 schedule is already filling up. I was recently selected for an exhibit at the Old Firehouse Art Center, Main Gallery in Longmont, Colorado (just north of Boulder) in September and October, 2012 as well as a solo exhibition at the Jasper Community Art Center in Jasper, Indiana in May, 2012. I'll be giving a lecture at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, AR on my documentary graphic novel What Follows Is True: Crescent: The Baker Years in October 2012.

Augmenters & Interlopers Exhibition to Open at sUgAR

The University of Arkansas Student Gallery in Bentonville (sUgAR) is pleased to announce a new group exhibition entitled Augmenters & Interlopers showcasing works by University of Arkansas art department adjunct faculty.

Augmenters & Interlopers contains a diverse array of works. The selection encompasses a variety of media including paintings, video art, sculpture, photography, ceramics and design.

Adjunct professors are contracted by universities on a class-by-classs basis. They represent a wide range of opinions and experience. Some are temporary residents, while others are local professionals. Some return to teach frequently enough to be mistaken for permanent faculty. Others teach for a semester or two and move on.

This exhibition includes art by Amjad Faur, Sean Fitzgibbon, Sonia Davis Gutierrez, Hank Kaminsky, Sam King, Stephanie Pierce, Adam Posnak, Amanda Salov, Jinsoo Song, and Cindy Wiseman.

An opening reception celebrates the artists exhibiting in Augmenters & Interlopers will take place Friday, May 6, from 5:30-7:30pm. This reception is free and open to the public. Following the reception there will be live music performances by local bands Devil's Promenade, Perpetual Werewolf, and Fauxnz. This event is also free and open to the public.

This exhibition will be on display from April 28 - May 29, with viewing hours Thursday from 2-6pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am-5pm, and Sunday from 1-5pm.

Spoleto Soleil

Please check out the art inspired events of Spoleto Soleil held from 4-7pm daily on Gallery Row, historic Broad Street in Charleston, South Carolina beginning May 27-June 12. I'll have new work featured at Ellis-Nicholson Gallery at 1 1/2 Broad Street. The event is in conjunction with Spoleto USA.

Literary Fest 2011

Many thanks Dr. Randy Duncan, Mollie Savage, and Brad Mooy, Josh Neufeld and to all the fine folks at the 2011 AR Literary Fest and to everyone that attended the Documentary Graphic Novel Panel Presentation.

It was truly an honor to present with NY Times best selling graphic novelist, Josh Neufeld and all the other amazing authors at the festival. If you haven't read his book A.D. New Orleans After the Deluge, I highly recommend it.

Graphic Novelist Nate Powell (Sounds of Your Name, Swallow Me Whole, Tiny Giants) presented on Monday and his work is fantastic as well. Powell is currently drawing Any Empire (forthcoming on Top Shelf Productions in 2011), and drawing the graphic novel The Silence of Our Friends, written by Mark Long and Jim Demonakos.
